A few minutes ago, the following tweet came through my feed:
I was intrigued. I clicked on the link, and was taken directly to Wander, where I was promptly told to get lost. But, would you mind reserving your username, first?
What the hell-I signed up with my standard username (dwightthemayor), clicked submit, and, like most new launch pages, invited to spam my friends with news of this wonderful thing. But I had no idea what it was. The Tumblr blog is simply a blank page. Their Twitter and Facebook page contain a simple message, “Not all those who wander are lost”. A Google search left no clues. All there is of this site/company/social network/whatever is an Utterly Pointless Leaderboard, and a clickable cow.
I love it.
This is brilliant, and much more engaging than your standard “Coming Soon!” There’s a sense of mystery, there’s a sense of a game, and we still don’t know what the thing does, so I’ll definitely be checking back. The perfect way to launch a viral product. Good show.
Check it out. Sign up for your username here.
